What TLC Verified™ means
We check what an organization tells us, we record the date we checked it, and we say plainly when a check is missing, out of date or unclear.
A check, not a recommendation
Verification tells you what we confirmed and when. It is not a rating, a promise about the care you will receive, or advice about what care is right for your family.
No record, no badge
If there is no verification on file, no badge appears. If a required check has expired, is suspended, revoked or could not be completed, the verified standing is removed for the affected service until it is put right.
Providers run their own service
Each organization delivers its own care and keeps its own licences, insurance and staff in order. TLC helps you find and compare them — the care relationship is with the provider.
What we check
Not every check applies to every service. Where a check does not apply, we record that too rather than leaving a gap.
Business identity
That the organization exists and is registered as it says.
State licence
A state licence, where one applies to the service offered.
Professional licence
A professional licence held for the service offered, where one applies.
Service scope
That the services listed match what the organization may offer.

The islands and communities the organization says it serves.

How we keep checks current
- We record an expiry date whenever the document has one.
- Our team reviews checks due within 90, 60 and 30 days so an organization has time to send a current document.
- Once a date passes, the check counts as expired straight away, and any verified standing that depended on it goes with it.
- Every decision is kept in an unchangeable history, with who made it and when.
